Why Diet is One of the Best Acne Cures

2009 December 17

Acne treatments based on diet are seen as controversial. But lots of acne patients have been successfully cured by the well loved holistic acne cures that are sold on the internet. Acne solutions that rely on diet have never been welcomed by the health check convergence because the proof to back them up has always been anecdotal. The link linking the foods we eat and our complexions has recently been shown by the latest study. In the future, acne programs built upon what we eat will gain footing as acne professionals inspect the evidence and admit that these holistic programs can really be powerful. Take a look at these acne product reviews for examples of available nutritional acne cures.

The habitual acne treatments prescribed by dermatologists are less than powerful for many acne sufferers.  Acne patients are typically first prescribed oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics and benzoyl peroxide creams and gels. Benzoyl peroxide is really only useful in treating mild cases of acne. Like antibiotics, it eradicates the P.Acnes bacteria on the skin go up that can infect blackheads and whiteheads and turns them into pimples.

But acne is a complicated disease and bacteria is only one part of the equation. That's the conundrum. People can, and do, have acne even with no bacteria bestow. Acne is really caused by how our bodies yield and react to androgen hormones. You cannot cure a disease like acne by treating just the symptoms. Sorry to say, that is what doctors try to do by using antibacterial agents. Even if their symptoms are reduced, a cycle of dependency is produced  where they cannot stop taking the medication or their acne will return. Month after month, the acne sufferer has to buy additional expensive medicine and often, especially if the acne is severe, sees disappointing results.

Antibiotic resistant bacteria has been produced at an alarming rate because of the overuse of antibiotics. We have no weapons to use against the new superbugs we are producing. Humanity is facing a serious threat. Most responsible doctors no longer administer antibiotics except when it is absolutely necessary.

Accutane is the dermatologist's other major weapon. This powerful drug has a role to play in acne behavior but must only be used as a last resort. The severe side effects associated with its use have caused it to be indifferent from the American market. Accutane makes acne look much worse in patients for up to a year while they are on it. Many people might not know this even though they are aware of the other well-documented side effects.

A recent health check investigation has proven that diet influences the production and synthesis of androgen hormones and this can have a direct effect on our complexions. (Source: Berra B, Rizzo AM. Glycemic index, glycemic load, wellness and beauty: the state of the art. Clinics in Dermatology. 2009:27:230-235) The claims of the well loved holistic acne diets available on the internet make sense when seen in this light. Acne can be cured by following the right healthy diet. It remains to be seen if this new knowledge will have any influence over how doctors choose to treat their acne patients. This is, though, fantastic news to acne patients who have been disappointed with the results they have been being paid from habitual health check approaches. Doctors will come under rising pressure to keep the money-train rolling. The drug companies have a lot to lose. People will take up again to feed the multi-billion dollar acne diligence even though it sells them products that are for the most part a waste of money. People will save a lot of money when word gets out that acne can be cured at home with some nutritional programs that are cheaper and more powerful than what they have been served in the past. This would be a welcome development in our fight to help all clear their acne.
