Natural Shampoo Ingredients Secrets

2009 July 22

There are many reasons why you might use untreated shampoo. Many people use it because they like living a green lifestyle. Others find that their hair is healthier when cleaned with untreated ingredients. Still others find that untreated shampoo is simpler on dyed hair than conventional shampoos. Also people prefer to use untreated body washes and untreated shampoos.

But some companies use the word untreated in a deceptive way. Occasionally it does simply mean untreated ingredients. Untreated ingredients commonly means anything that comes from nature. As a result the shampoo can hegemony a few untreated ingredients and a lot of unnatural ones. A few preservatives and even dyes are commonly okay. Though if you have insightful skin you might have a bit more distress with artificial colors and fragrances. The serious ingredients that you should look for may undo positive benefits of untreated ingredients.

Always watch out for lauryl- and laureth sulfates. This is what makes shampoo foam. But it also strips down hair. This will leave locks brittle and weak. It can also end color. Commonly, excessive lauryl sulfate in shampoo will result in lightening and dulling effects. Anything with the words Lauryl or Laureth should be avoided.

Also, keep an eye out for sufur and sulfides. Dandruff shampoos often have these ingredients. You could surely say that sulfur is untreated. But it can really aggravate some types of skin conditions and cause dandruff. If you elect to use a sulfur based shampoo, keep it away from your eyes. Also, be prepared for hair that is drier than usual.

Truly untreated shampoos share some common characteristics:

* They have few ingredients - Most of the ingredients in shampoos are artificial. Most untreated shampoos will just have a base of soap and a few other ingredients.

* There is not much foam when using untreated shampoos - This is because they lack the foaming agents we discussed earlier.

* They tend to have ingredients that you would see in your kitchen cupboards - You might see apple cider vinegar, herbs and baking soda. Many people really wash their hair just with baking soda, apple cider vinegar and water.

If you already have perfect hair, then you should stick with what you are doing! If you are looking for a new untreated shampoo, though, be sure that you are being paid the real deal. The secret ingredients can cause some serious hurt to your hair. Always be sure that your untreated shampoo is the real deal before you start washing your hair.
